Essential Job Functions

This position reports to the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Campus Climate and is responsible for providing oversight and direction to staff within the Office of Student Life, with a goal of advancing student programming efforts and creating vibrant programs and activities to engage students.  This position will also be responsible for creating inclusive programming and a student involvement plan to support UW-Green Bay’s priority on diversity, inclusion, and engagement.  The successful candidate will provide advice, support, and guidance to student organizations and first-year experience programs on campus, which includes creating dynamic student energy and engagement.

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Supervise and provide mentorship and direction for direct reports.
  • Work with staff in the Office of Student Life in response to co-curricular interests and developmental needs of students for the purposes of learning and retention.
  • Oversee all aspects of Student Life programs designed to engage and mentor students to succeed in college.
  • Actively plan and create programs aimed to engage a larger, more diverse student base.
  • Initiate, facilitate, and coordinate strategic planning for the department.
  • Establish, interpret, and monitor policies and procedures related to campus programming.
  • Monitor and respond to campus and national youth trends, legal environment, and demographics.
  • Oversee all departmental marketing and promotions.
  • Facilitate coordinated programming across campus.
  • Oversee all First-Year Experience Programs, including personnel and budget (approximately $180,000).
  • Assess outcomes and evaluate all programs to determine future improvements.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate personnel in the Office of Student Life.
  • Provide leadership, management, and consultation for 120+ student organizations.
  • Prepare and manage a budget of approximately $800,000, ensuring fiscal accountability. Collaborate with Vice Chancellor to ensure appropriate office and fiscal management.
  • Foster an inclusive University community, and promote equity for all students.
  • Oversee and manage Student Life contributions to campus initiatives.
  • Actively participate with campus and division leadership by representing Student Life in director’s division meetings. Establish positive relationships with other directors, and identify opportunities for collaboration and creativity.
  • Seek out opportunities for programming collaborations with other units on campus.
  • Utilize new technology to reach students, and update programs and services as often as possible.
  • Develop and implement a minimal number of programs as needed by the department and campus.
  • Serve on University-wide committees as assigned.
  • Inform the Vice Chancellor of appropriate issues and/or problems on a regular basis, and makes recommendations regarding policies. 
  • Participate in professional organizations related to position responsibilities to keep current on trends in the field.
  • Assist with department projects.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in college student personnel or related field at time of application
  • 7 years of experience in student activities or related field
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement successful co-curricular student programming
  • Experience with supervision, planning, and fiscal management

Conditions of Appointment

Position requires some nights and weekend hours.

Position is a full-time Limited appointment. Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s). A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s). Salary

Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
