Department News
Human Biology would like to welcome a new faculty member.
- Dr. Leanne Le Zhu joins the UW-Green Bay faculty from a postdoctoral appointment at Cornell University involving research on pre-biotics and other food components and their influence on micronutrient absorption and human health. She also served as a program coordinator for an initiative called Harvest Plus, exploring avenues by which sustainable production of micronutrient-rich staple crops could better feed the world's poor. Zhu earned a Ph.D. in food science from Cornell in 2006, following a master's in biochemistry from UW-Milwaukee and a bachelor's in applied chemistry from Beijing University. Additional applied research work has included the biochemistry of iron fortification in milk and, while on assignment with the E&J Gallo Winery of California in 2005, the chemistry of grape and wine production. Zhu is a native of Beijing, China.
