Other Dental Schools
Out-of-state dental schools have slightly different requirements than the Marquette
University School of Dentistry. Prior to your junior year, check the
American Dental Education Association web site for admission requirements of particular dental schools.
Dental Admission Test (DAT)
All candidates for admission must take the test conducted by the American Dental
Association, Division of Educational Measurements of the Council on Dental Education.
This exam is computer based. Once your application and fee are processed,
you will be contacted with instructions to phone a toll free number to set up
your exam. A 48 hour notice is required for taking the exam. The DAT
is usually taken the second semester of your junior year but may be taken as
late as the end of the fall semester of your senior year. For a DAT
application, go to the American Dental Education Association web site.
Grades and Admission Standards for Dental School
Your grade point average (G.P.A.) and your DAT scores are the major factors in dental
school admissions criteria. A rough guideline for G.P.A. is about 3.3 plus DAT's better than
15 to have reasonable assurance of acceptance.
Application Procedures
Applications should be completed for dental school generally no later than October
of your senior year. Contact dental school(s) directly for applications.
