Research Interests:
Dr. Marker’s research focuses on the response and role of the endocrine system (hormones) during exercise. In particular he has looked at the role of adrenalin and other hormones in maintaining proper amounts of glucose in the blood during exercise - a phenomenon known as glucose regulation. A few of the major findings include: rats (and probably humans) can exercise at moderate intensity without adrenaline, elderly individuals have a similar hormonal response to exercise as young individuals, a product known as Cytosport had no beneficial effect on exercise, and after fasting, individuals can still exercise at moderate exercise for short periods of time.
