Call for Submissions
Fall 2006
“Creative Approaches to
Teaching” is a program sponsored by the Instructional
Development Council to encourage communication among faculty
about creative and effective teaching practice. Faculty and
instructional academic staff members are invited to write a
brief description of a successful teaching strategy or classroom
assessment technique that has worked well for them. Any
exercise, teaching approach, or assessment strategy that you
have personally used and found to be successful may be
submitted.
Please take a few minutes to
describe one of your most creative and effective teaching
strategies or assessment techniques. If your strategy or
technique is selected, you will receive $100 (payroll) and some
well-deserved recognition.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: October 30, 2006
Selection criteria include:
1. the degree of
innovation
2. the degree of applicability to courses outside your
field
3. the extent to which your strategy or technique
adheres to sound pedagogical practice
4. the extent to which the description of your strategy
or technique is clear and straightforward
To submit a strategy or
technique, please provide the information requested below.
Please limit your narrative to 1-2 pages and send as an e-mail
attachment (in Word) to Timothy Sewall, Associate Provost,
sewallt@uwgb.edu by
October 30, 2006.
1. Your name
2. Your budgetary unit
3. Your office location and phone number
4. Date submitted
5. In 1-2 pages, describe the teaching strategy or
assessment technique that you would like considered. Be sure to
clearly state the strategy’s purpose and the type of class
(e.g., large, lecture, seminar) in which the strategy works
best. The strategy does not have to be something that you
personally developed, only something that you have personally
used and found to be effective. Provide sufficient detail so
that others might adapt the strategy or technique to their
teaching needs.
