A Great Professional Development Opportunity
 

Faculty College 2007, sponsored by the UW System Office of Professional and Instructional Development, will be held once again at the UW-Richland campus, in Richland Center, from May 29 – June 1, 2007.  The College brings together approximately 100 faculty and instructional academic staff from across the System for three days of intensive exploration of teaching, learning and curricular issues.  This year OPID is pleased to feature an exciting lineup of workshops:

  1. “Achievement, Equity and Retention: Three Pedagogical Changes that Can Make a Real Difference in ANY College Classroom,” by Craig E. Nelson, Carnegie Scholar in 2000 and Professor Emeritus of Biology at Indiana University (IU) in Bloomington;

  2. “Creativity in the Classroom: Making Space for Inspiration,” by Katherine Sanders, corporate consultant and specialist in faculty development, currently based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania but formerly of UW-Madison;

  3. “Gathering SoTL Evidence: Methods for Systematic Inquiry into Student Learning,” by Renee A. Meyers, Coordinator of the UW System Leadership Site for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) and Professor of Communication at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee; and

  4. “How will they be different at the end of the semester?  Aligning student learning with course objectives,” by Jennifer Meta Robinson, Director of Campus Instructional Consulting and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Program at Indiana University.

Application Deadline: April 3, 2007
We have been invited to nominate four participants.  If you are interested in applying, please send an e-mail to Tim Sewall (sewallt@uwgb.edu) by April 3, 2007.  In addition to your name please include a brief statement indicating why you are interested in participating in this event.  If more than four individuals apply, nominees will be selected by the deans and Provost.  Expenses will be paid by OPID and the Office of the Provost.
