Call for Proposals - Response Due January 26th
OPID
Spring Conference: Partnering for Student Success in
the First Year: Learning About Learning
March 23 & 24, Concourse Hotel, Madison WI
This year's OPID Spring Conference will focus on systematic
inquiry about student learning in the first year of College.
Linked here is a
Call
for Proposals for conference sessions, along with
a description of the conference goals, outcomes, and format.
OPID is looking for proposals which address one of the
following themes:
1. What do we mean by
systematic inquiry into student learning? We are
looking for examples of scholarly investigation relating to
first year students, from individuals, programs, or
institutions.
2. Who are our students?
We are looking for sessions on research that has been
done around diversity, student demographics, student
perceptions, and so forth.
3. How can we partner across
disciplines, areas, divisions, etc., to design
evidence-based programs, curricula, and pedagogies with
student learning at the forefront. We are looking
for examples of new or ongoing partnerships that focus on
the first-year. These might be institutional,
intra-institutional, or other kinds of partnerships that
provide creative models for collecting information that
leads to our understanding of student success.
Sessions will be one hour long. Proposals can be for
individual sessions, panels, or short workshops. (In the
case of individual presentations, we may put two individuals
into one concurrent session.)
Please be aware that there is a very quick turn-around.
Proposals are due on Friday, January 26th. Send completed proposals
to Donna Silver at:
opid@uwsa.edu.
