These grants are sponsored by UW System Institute on Race and
Ethnicity, located on the UW-Milwaukee campus. Announcements
of the calls for proposals are generated by the Dean of Students
Office, but submissions should be made directly to the Institute.

The
UW System Institute on Race and Ethnicity has issued its
annual Call for Proposals for support grants to fund research,
curriculum development, and programmatic initiatives related
to racial and ethnic topics and UW System Plan 2008.
Four categories of grants are awarded;
Category
A--Research: To support scholarly
research with the intent of publication on racial and ethnic
topics. Maximum Award: $5000 (add'l $500 supplement may
be given for intercampus collaboration projects and/or
projects which may leverage additional extramural funding from
nationally competitive sources)
Category
B--Curriculum Development: To support the development and
teaching of new courses pertaining to racial and ethnic
topics. Maximum Award $5000 (add'l $500
supplement may be given for intercampus
collaboration projects and/or projects which may leverage
additional extramural funding from nationally competitive
sources)
Category
C--Events and Lectures: To support events
and lectures related to racial and ethnic topics.
Maximum Award: $2000.
Minority
Faculty Research Awards: Funds are provided to
release eligible non-tenured faculty members who are on
tenure-track appointments from one semester of teaching
responsibilities to conduct research/scholarly activity
in support of tenure. Maximum Award: $8000
provisional salary funds, + $2000 S&E, + $500 S&E for
a research mentor.

be postmarked by Friday, April 11, 2003.
