Journey to Jordan II
Arabic Language and Culture
The Journey to Jordan program is about Arabic language, and also about new friendships and understanding across cultures.
“A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions."
- Oliver Wendell Holmes, American author
“What better education can there be than from the book of humanity?”
- Mahatma Gandhi, Hindu nationalist and spiritual leader
If you have friends or relatives in Amman, please ask them to consider hosting one (or two) of our wonderful student participants for four weeks this summer. It is a wonderful experience for all -- visit the "Student Quotes" page to read what students have said about it.
Click here for more information about the home stay/host family experience. The steps in becoming a host family are as follows:
-
1) Families complete this questionnaire and send it to program coordinator Jay Harris, harrisja@uwgb.edu by May 8, if possible. There is no absolute deadline, so it may be sent after that date if necessary. The sooner we receive it, the better our opportunity to match a family to a student with similar interests.
-
2) After we receive the completed questionnaire, we will contact the family by telephone for a conversation.
-
3) We will schedule an interview in your home, to be conducted by program staff in May or June.
