TI - 86 Regression

Here is how to do the Linear Regression on the TI-86:

Step 1 Delete old lists: 2^nd MEM, F2(DELET), select list to delete with cursor, ENTER

Step 2 Enter data: 2^nd STAT, F2(EDIT), cursor to xStat or yStat, enter values, and make sure fStat is equal to 1 for all pairs of x and y.

Step 3 Calculate equation of least squares regression line: 2^nd STAT, F1(CALC), F3(LinR), ENTER

Step 4 Read values for a and b from screen

Step 5 (Optional) Plot the data: 2^nd STAT, F3(PLOT), select plot (PLOT1, PLOT2, or PLOT3), cursor to ON, ENTER, cursor to type, select F1(SCAT), GRAPH (adjust window if necessary).

Step 6 (Optional) Plot the regression line: 2^nd STAT, F1(CALC), F3(LinR), 2^nd LIST, F3(NAMES), F3(xStat), enter a comma, F4(yStat), enter a comma, 2^nd Catlg-Vars, F3(REAL), cursor to y, ENTER, 1, ENTER, GRAPH.
