Petition Policy for Faculty
An instructor’s signature on a student’s petition means that he/she has considered the circumstances and assessed them in accordance with standard practice (as indicated in the chart in the petition brochure). Decisions by instructors should be guided by:
- Fair, consistent and equitable treatment of students
- Maintaining the academic integrity of the university transcript
- Holding students responsible for their decisions
- Accepting institutional responsibility where appropriate
- Full review of supporting documentation
