Honors

Phi Kappa Phi is the country's oldest and most selective honor society that includes a community of scholars and professionals from all academic disciplines. The Society's mission is "To recognize and promote academic excellence in all fields of higher education and to engage the community of scholars in service to others."

Phi Kappa Phi chapters number more than 300 on campuses throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines.  Membership is by invitation only to the top 10 percent of seniors and graduate students and 7.5 percent of juniors. Faculty, professional staff, and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction also qualify.  Some of the Phi Kappa Phi’s most notable members include U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, former President Jimmy Carter and author John Grisham.

Invitations for nomination to Phi Kappa Phi on our campus are typically sent out early Fall Semester.

Those nominated for Phi Eta Sigma membership include students who have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale at the end of any first year, provided they have carried a normal academic load acceptable toward a bachelor’s degree and rank in the upper 20 percent of their class.
