Application Process for Wingspread Program
How do I apply to become a Wingspread Fellow?
Being selected as a Wingspread Fellow is a very competitive process. You must first apply on campus and be selected as a Wingspread Scholar. Eight Scholars (four juniors and four seniors) will be selected for the 2008-2009 academic year. The minimum cumulative GPA for eligibility is 3.75. Juniors may retain their status as a Wingspread Scholar during their senior years as long as they maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.75 and continue to be responsible citizens.

How do I Apply to Become a Wingspread Fellow?
Once the eight Wingspread Scholars are chosen, you will receive e-mails regarding the conferences held at Wingspread. As a Wingspread Scholar, you are expected to apply to attend a minimum of one conference per year. Again these are very competitive so you may have to apply to several conferences before being selected as a Wingspread Fellow.
You may choose any conference that you find interesting. In most cases it is necessary to have some background knowledge on the subject in order to understand and appreciate the conference. Be sure to check your calendar. The Johnson Foundation is being very generous and it will be very embarrassing if you cancel at the last minute for something that was foreseeable. In the case of an emergency where you are unable to attend the conference, call The Johnson Foundation (414) 639-3211 or (414) 681-3320 as soon as possible to let them know. You might also want to send them a letter of apology depending upon the circumstances.
The most important factor in the application process is speed! After reviewing the list of upcoming conferences, you must complete an application and write a letter of interest (in a Word document) and e-mail it to ternest@uwgb.edu Your letter of interest should state why you wish to participate in the particular conference which you have chosen, how the conference will benefit you and your future goals, how it relates to your field, and any other interesting information about why you should be chosen to attend. The Associate Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will forward your application form, letter of interest, and a copy of your biography which you previously submitted. The Associate Dean will notify you about the status of your application via e-mail.
If you are not accepted to a conference, most likely they already had the maximum number of Wingspread Fellows. Typically one or two are selected for each conference.
