Preparation for the Wingspread Conference
Do Your Homework
It is a good idea to do some homework before you get to your conference. Newspapers and journals are good places to do brush up work. If time allows, you will receive further information about the conference participants and goals which will give you a better idea of what the conference is all about. You will be working with experts; it is a good feeling when you can have an intellectual discussion with them. Obviously not all conferences will be conducive to researching in current sources but you can still find out who is involved in the conference and what some of their other projects have been. This is probably more typical of conferences dealing with highly technical subjects.
Where Will I Stay?
The Foundation will reimburse you for travel to and from the conference. The Foundation will also make arrangements for you at a local hotel. When you arrive, tell them that you are with Wingspread. You will be required to sign the room agreement and they will take an imprint of your credit card. This is in case of any extra costs such as movies, drinks, or room service which are not reimbursed by The Johnson Foundation.
What Should I Wear?
Business attire is suitable. Be sure to be comfortable because you will be sitting for most of the day. The last day is the most casual because everyone will be traveling.
