| 31st Annual
Juried Student Art Exhibiton
November 20- December 13, 2003
Professor Gelsy Verna, an Associate Professor of Painting,
from the University of Wisconsin Madison, had the task of jurying
this year's student exhibition. Professor Verna accomplised her
job with skill and sensitivity in the face of a broad range of media
and varying levels of expertise. Her juror's lecture, "Circles
of Influence," which mapped the array of cultural and artistic
artifacts that inform her work, was a fascinating and richly textured
foray into how her Caribbean ancestry informs her syncretistic approach
to art and art making, and ultimatly identity.
Professot Verna sees this grouping as a conversation--a little
bit of something or a little bit of everything.
