Richard Schaal, is the new director of the Institute for Learning Partnership, succeeding the interim director, John Crubaugh. Schaal initially served as the Institute’s PDC coordinator for four years. He brings 30 years of experience as a school administrator, instructional and staff development training skills to the position, as well as a passion for improving student learning. He was previously the principal of Red Smith and Baird Elementary schools in Green Bay and remains connected with these schools as a guest speaker and mentor. He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UW-Steven’s Point, a master’s degree in special education from UW-Whitewater, two administrative certificates from UW-Milwaukee and UW-Madison and an additional certificate in special education from UW-Oshkosh.

Juliet Cole is the Associate Director of the Institute for Learning Partnership. She is responsible for the Institute’s planning and management of publications, conferences, public forums and diversity programs, and establishing and maintaining contact with local schools and communities. She is active in the Green Bay community, especially in roles designated to improve diversity and minority student achievement. She is involved in Green Bay and Fox Cities area committees and organizations, including, Leadership Green Bay, the Green Bay Area Public School Diversity and Minority Achievement Committees. She serves as a supervisor for various school mentoring programs and provides diversity training for teachers and staff in Green Bay and East De Pere schools. She was a co-chair for the Educational Achievement Task Force for the Lieutenant Governor’s initiative, Wisconsin Women = Prosperity. She was a delegate on the committee that received “All-America City” designation. Cole holds a bachelor’s degree in social change and development and a master’s degree in cross-cultural counseling from UW-Green Bay. In addition, she holds a management diploma from Cambridge, England. She has experience in student services, program administration, advising, counseling and teaching and international experience while working professionally in Nigeria and the Middle East.

Janet Ludke serves as the lead program assistant providing administrative and secretarial support for the Institute’s staff and partners. Her organizational skills and eye for detail are critical to the daily operation of the Institute. Her experience includes work with the UW-Green Bay Small Business Development Center and the State Department of Health and Family Services. She is very active in local children's programs. She holds an associate degree in marketing from Gateway Technical College and holds an Instructional Assistant Advanced Associate Degree from NWTC in Green Bay.

Kimberly Desotell is the new coordinator of the PDC program. She brings 12 years of classroom teaching experience with her as well as six years experience as a middle school principal in the Milwaukee area. Her educational interests include leadership, teacher development, and technology. In addition, forging relationships between K-12 schools and higher education is a priority in her work. Desotell holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN. and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee. In addition, she is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in administrative leadership and urban education from UW-Milwaukee. She looks forward to providing leadership and direction to the PDC program and building upon the success of those before her.

Deborah Mineau joined the Institute staff as a Program Assistant for the Professional Development Certificate (PDC) Program, providing administrative support for the coordinator and PDC candidates. She has previously worked at the United Way as a Champaign & Marketing Associate and also at NWTC for the Student Services Program. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business and a minor in economics from UW-Green Bay.

Cyndie Shepard, wife of UW-Green Bay Chancellor Bruce Shepard and Associate of the Chancellor by title, is the Director and co-founder of the award winning Phuture Phoenix Program. She is also an adjunct faculty member in the UW-Green Bay Teacher Education Program and Theatre Department. She serves as a member of the Institute’s PDC Quality Review Board and on several committees and organizations on campus. Prior to UW-Green Bay, Shepard served as the Director of Developmental Services at Umatilla Morrow Education Service District, and as an Instructor at Eastern Oregon University, in Oregon. Previous experience includes her work as an adjunct instructor at Murray State University, and Collaborative Consultant for the Murray Independent School District, Murray, Kentucky. She was also a Special Education Resource Specialist at Fullerton Public Schools and Orange Unified School District, in California, and served as an adjunct instructor at California State University Fullerton; University of California, Irvine; Fullerton College and Monterey Peninsula College. She has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from California State University and a Master’s degree in psychology from Immaculate Heart College. She also has many credentials in the areas of K-12 education, adult education, special education, and educational administration. Shepard serves on several boards in the community, including the United Way Board, the United Way Children and Families Impact Council, ASPIRO, Scholarships, Inc., A Woman's Place St. Mary's Hospital, and NEWDO.

Stephanie Cataldo Pabich is the Coordinator of the Phuture Phoenix program. She supervises the UW-Green Bay Phuture Phoenix students who serve as tutors and mentors to at-risk middle and high school students and assists in the preparation and coordination of on-campus Phuture Phoenix events, including the annual fifth grade tours that bring 1,500 elementary school students to the UW-Green Bay campus each fall. Pabich served previously in the Institute’s PDC program for four years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in history and social change & development from UW-Green Bay and a master’s degree in history from the University of Illinois, Urbana –Champaign.
