What is PDC and who is PDC for?

Narrative
The Accomplished Educator Professional Development Certificate (PDC) program is a component of the Institute for Learning Partnership at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. The program is approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction for teacher and pupil services re-licensure. It is designed to meet a demand from teachers, pupil services personnel, and districts to provide a responsive and practical structure for continuing professional growth and improved student learning. The program utilizes a constructivist learning theory of professional development in which candidates work in collegial groups to develop and master their own individual learning plans, action research projects, and portfolio submissions. It is also guided by the National Teaching Standards. The PDC program, which started during the summer of 1999, is suitable for experienced educators at any stage of their career- before or after completion of master's degree studies.

How will PDC Benefit Me?

* Growth as a reflective practitioner
* Enhance and transform your teaching and professional abilities
* Compensation by partner districts for the completion of your PDC
* Option for license renewal through DPI
* Enhance networking and collegial relationships with other professionals
* Increase your leadership capacity as a professional
* PDC completion counts for 9 credits toward UW-Green Bay Masters in Applied Leadership for Teaching and Learning Program

Why is the PDC unique?

The PDC is unique and different from other professional development programs in that it is self-paced and individualized. The focus of the experience is based on student learning in your classroom with your children. Action research is conducted in your classroom or your school. You document your research in a portfolio that will include the planning, results, and learning of your action research throughout your journey. The school districts involved are confident that through this program you will transform the way you teach.
