Funding opportunities available through the LTDC
The UW System-wide Learning Technology Development Council (LTDC), parent organization of UW-GB's own LTC, administers two sizable grant programs designed to promote the innovative use of technology in the teaching and learning process. The Curricular Redesign Grant (CRG) program funds multi-campus, collaborative proposals. It has been around for several years and has already funded several projects that include UW-GB faculty. The RFP typically comes out in December with proposals due sometime in March. See the current RFP for details. Note: The RFP application and budget sheet for the 2008-2009 fiscal year are now available online at: http://www.uwsa.edu/olit/ltdc/crg/.
The Emerging Technology Pilot Grant program is very new with funding beginning in the 2007-2008 fiscal year. This program funds single-campus initiatives and is limited to $5000 per award. Applications can be submitted year round and are considered almost immediately. Funds cannot span fiscal years and must be spent by the end of the fiscal year. See: http://www.uwsa.edu/olit/ltdc/EmergingTechnologyPilotRFP.pdf and talk with Andy Speth for details.
For both funding programs, faculty are encouraged to contact Andy Speth, UW-GB's LTDC rep, to discuss the appropriateness of a proposal before making the time investment required in writing their proposal. There is no intent to meddle, but campus LTDC reps are closest to the RFPs and can often either gently suggest that a proposal is not right for the RFP or clarify significant points of the RFP.
Below are CRG proposals funded over the past few years that include UW-GB. The Emerging Technology Pilot Grant program is so new that no proposals were submitted prior to July, 2007.
2007-2008: “Investigating Wikis in Courses and Cross-Campus Collaborations in the UWS.” Campuses involved: UW Colleges (UW-Barron County, UW-Marathon County, UW-Washington County), UW Eau Claire, UW Green Bay, UW Oshkosh, UW Parkside. See this and all Curricular Redesign Grant Awards from 2007-2008.
2006-2007: "Intercampus Community of Practice (ICoP)." Four faculty and the LTDC rep from each of six campuses, including UW-Green Bay, work with blogs, podcasting, wikis, online discussions, and other instructional technologies. See the ICoP home.
2005-2006: "Arts Management D2L Course Development Project." Campuses involved: UW-Green Bay, UW-Parkside, UW-Stevens Point, and UW-Whitewater. See their presentation and final report in the Minds@UW repository.
