USB microphones offer the best quality with the convenience of a 'plug and play' type device. It is feasible to use other microphones. 3.5mm Mini TRS jacks (like headphone jacks) can be plugged into the appropriate inputs on your computer. Larger jacks (6.3mm) or 3-pin XLR inputs would require adapters or some sort of external mixer.
