Finding Books Using the Cofrin Library Catalog
This guide will illustrate how to conduct a library catalog search using the Advanced Search. Connect to the library's homepage at http:www.uwgb.edu/library and position your mouse over the "Catalog Search" text to open the search menu as shown below.

Enter your search term or search phrase. Note below that the "AND" connector word is automatically selected. "NOT" would exclude a term (for example -- education NOT technology) while "OR" would allow for finding concepts that may be described using different terms (for example -- death penalty OR capital punishment).

Note that in the above search we are searching using the default "Keyword Anywhere" but you can of course search by author, title, etc. by clicking on the down arrow to the right of "Keyword Anywhere."

Your results list screen will list matched items in chronological order with the most current at the top. From here you will be able to determine the location of the item. In this case the book is in the "Stacks" and since the call number begins with a "P" it resides on the 6th floor of the library. For a complete list of library locations please see librarylocations.asp

Also on this initial results list is an indication of whether or not the book is available to be "checked out." In some instance the status will indicate "non circulating" if the item must be used here in the library. Arrangements to have this material sent to you can me made.

To arrive at more details click on the title link on the initial results screen. This is useful when you want to see if you can find similar items (note the subjects below are links) and to see if there might be a table of contents to give you a better idea of what the book is about (as shown below).

You have the option of printing, saving, or emailing the information.
