Wireless/Wired Access
How do I connect to the Internet using wireless?
The library has wireless access available on the 3rd through 7th floors. The following instructions will help you with setting up access on your computer.
- You need a 802.11b Wireless Ethernet Adapter Card (also called NIC or Network Interface Card). If you have 802.11g on your laptop you will be able to connect using either 802.11b or 802.11g.
- You will also need the TCP/IP Protocol configured on your computer. Most computers already have this configured, but if yours does not then please contact the Help Desk at ext. 2309 for assistance.
- Select UW - Green Bay Wireless from the network connections settings page. The network connections settings page is available by click on Start/Settings/Control Panel/Network Connections and then selecting your wireless interface card.
- The wireless network is NOT a secure network. When the warning screen message pops up stating you are using an insecure network, click OK.
- You should now have access to the Internet. Please note that you only have access to programs and drives on your computer.
Further information is available on the CIT Wireless/Wired webpage.
