Computers, Copiers, and More...

Technology Assistance

Student lab consultants are available to help with all library equipment and computer applications. The consultants staff a desk alongside the reference librarians and are available when school is in session from 8 a.m.- 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. on Fridays.

Computers

3rd Floor: There are fifty general access computers located on the 3rd floor of the library. Thirty-five of them are located near the reference desk and reference collection. An additional fourteen computers are available in the Instruction Lab (CL 304) when classes are not in session.

4th Floor: There is one computer located on the 4th floor next to the Popular Reading Collection.

5th Floor: There are two computers located near the front of the 5th floor, one is for quick catalog lookups. Two more computers are available in group study rooms on this floor.

6th Floor: There are two computers located near the front of the 6th floor, one is for quick catalog lookups. Eight computers are available on the 6th floor in the group study rooms.

Laptop Connections

Detailed instructions for laptop connections can be found in the rooms listed below, or at this web site. Connector cables are not available in the library and must be provided by the laptop user.

4th Floor:

Group Project Rooms

Group project fooms contain a large table, 4 chairs, and a standard student lab PC. Priority is given to groups of 2 or more. They can not be reserved and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Rooms are located at:

Wireless Access

Wireless access will be available fall semester, 2005, at several access points on the 3rd-7th floors. Transmissions over the wireless network are not encrypted. Users are advised not to transmit personal information such as social security numbers or credit card information while using the wireless network. Printers are not part of the wireless network. If you need to print, save your work to a disk and go to a library labPC to send your work to the printer. Accessible Computer Station & Equipment

The library has one fully accessible computer station on the 3rd floor of the library in room CL 306B. The following software is available:

  • Kurzweil 3000 ver. 8, optical character recognition software
  • Zoom Text Level 2, screen magnifying software
  • Jaws for Windows, screen reading software
  • Dragon Naturally Speaking, voice recognition software
  • Headset with microphone
  • Color scanner

Copy Machines

Copy machines are located on the 3rd and 4th floors of the library. Copies are $.10 for 8 1/2 x 11 inch copies and $.20 for 11 x 17 inch copies.

Value Transfer Station (VTS)

A Value Transfer Station is located on the 3rd floor of the library. This station allows you to add money to your UWGB ID card or guest card. It also allows anyone without a UWGB ID card to purchase a guest card to use for printing/photocopying. The initial cost of the guest card is $.60. If a guest card is not used within a six month period, any money left on the card is forfeited and another card must be purchased.

Microformat Readers/Printer

There is a microformat reader/printer located on the 3rd floor of the library. The printer, for microfilm and microfiche, accepts UWGB ID and guest cards. Copies are $.25 per page. Additional microfilm readers are available on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors.

Microcard Reader/ Printer

There is a microcard reader/printer located on the 3rd floor of the library. The printer accepts UWGB ID and guest cards. Copies are $.25 per page.

Listening Equipment

The library provides listening stations for CDs, tapes and records. These stations are located on the 3rd floor. Headphones can be checked out at the Circulation desk on the 3rd floor.
