School Records
We have school records for numerous school districts
throughout northeastern Wisconsin. The type of records we have varies
from district to district and county to county. Types of school records
housed at the Green Bay Area Research Center include school censuses,
teachers' reports, correspondence of school superintendent, and blueprints.
The records provide information on the history of a school district, details
about school buildings, teacher training, and curriculum. Records also
provide individual information about students. The latter is generally
found in grade registers (which are restricted) and school censuses. School
censuses provide a list of everyone living in a school district between
the ages of four and twenty. The censuses list names of children, parents,
and the birth dates of children.
There are also a few published histories of schools. To locate these books, use the Cofrin Library Catalog. Use a keyword search for the name of the county, community, or specific school.
