Transfer System & Request

In addition to the holdings of the Green Bay Area Research Center, researchers have at their disposal the collections of the Wisconsin Historical Society and those of the other Area Research Centers. Through the Area Research Center Network, almost any collection can be transferred to the Green Bay Area Research Center for local researchers. The collections available for transfer range from fur trader account books to movie scripts and from Civil War soldier records to diaries of immigrants.

Transfers are handled through two mechanisms. Materials are transferred by representatives of institutions during on-site visits. A second transfer method involves the South Central Library System Courier. With this courier, the Area Research Center receives and sends materials daily.

Once a collection or materials are identified by local researchers, the Green Bay Area Research Center staff manages all of the logistics required to obtain materials through the transfer system.  To identify a collection or materials search ArCat.
