The Cofrin Library, and specifically the Special Collections Department, of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay has the responsibility of acquiring, storing, and administering the official and unofficial records of the institution.

The goals of the University Archives are:

  1. To collect University of Wisconsin-Green Bay documents of historical, legal, administrative and fiscal values.
  2. To arrange and store the university records according to proper archival procedures.
  3. To access and provide reference services for the archival records.

The University Archives consists of a wide variety of records. The Archives contains complete files of virtually every university-generated publication; departmental and administrative records, and the records of individual faculty members. Official records in the University Archives range from basketball films to founding records of 1966, environmental impact statements to financial aid files, and UW System budgets to correspondence of the Chancellor. Masters' theses are also housed in the University Archives.

The unofficial records in the University Archives consist of a few manuscript collections. The latter include the papers of organizations, students, and community members. There are also records of student organizations.

SYLLABI

The University Archives maintains files of syllabi for all courses taught at UW- Green Bay. The files are arranged numerically by course number and thereunder chronologically. The files date from the late 1970s to the present. Current syllabi are located in the Reference Department of Cofrin Library.

Syllabi may be used for verification of course content for transfer or credit evaluation purposes. Researchers may also use the syllabi to study changes and trends in curriculum.

THESES

The University Archives has an archival copy of every thesis completed for a master's degree at University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. The copy in University Archives does not circulate. A circulating copy is in the Library's book stacks. You can find theses cataloged on the Cofrin Library Catalog. On the catalog you can find theses by author, title, subject or call number.
