Top students shine at Excellence Symposium

The 13th annual Academic Excellence Symposium took place Thursday on campus and, as always, the mid-day fair was a chance for leading student researchers to show their work and for talented artists and vocalists to share their talent. Visitors throughout the day included faculty, administrators, fellow students and even some proud parents and grandparents (above). Learn more

A record number of area middle- and high-school students (roughly 450 in all) came to campus last Saturday to exhibit their projects at the National History Day competition. Project topics included civil rights, labor, women’s suffrage, Earth Day and much more. Learn more

Good eats,
great cause

Students, faculty and staff lined up early and just kept coming Wednesday during the seventh annual Empty Bowls event in the Union. Presented by Art Agency, this year's fundraiser brought in nearly $2,500 for Freedom House. That's roughly 250 handmade bowls filled with delectable chili or soup from one of a half-dozen local restaurants. Filling, indeed. See more.
