Managing dropbox folders or categories

Edit a dropbox folder

  1. On the Dropbox Folders page, click Edit from the context menu of the folder you want to edit.
  2. Update the Properties, Restrictions, and Objectives tab, as desired. See Creating a dropbox folder for more information.
  3. Click Save.

Edit multiple dropbox folders

  1. On the Dropbox Folders page, select the check box beside each dropbox folder you want to edit.
  2. Click Edit at the top of the page.
  3. Update the appropriate fields. See Creating a dropbox folder for more information.

    Note  Selecting the Display in Calendar check box adds Submissions After and Submissions Before dates to users' calendars.

  4. Click Save.

Edit a dropbox category

  1. On the Dropbox Folders page, click the Edit icon beside the name of the category you want to edit.
  2. Edit the Name of the category.
  3. Click Save.

Set the availability dates for a folder

  1. On the Dropbox Folders page, click Edit from the context menu of the folder you want to set an availability.
  2. Click the Restrictions tab.
  3. In the Availability section, set the folder's Start Date and End Date.
  4. Select Display in Calendar if you want the availability dates for a dropbox folder to appear in users' calendars.
  5. Click Save.

Set release conditions for a folder

Release conditions allow you to associate a dropbox folder with other items in Learning Environment. For example, you can require that users meet some criteria, such as reading a set of lecture notes in the Content tool, before they can submit an assignment to the dropbox folder. Or, you could make submission of material to the dropbox folder the criteria for accessing some other item, like a quiz.

  1. On the Dropbox Folders page, click Edit from the context menu of the folder you want to set restrictions for.
  2. Click the Restrictions tab.
  3. In the Additional Release Conditions section, click either Attach Existing or Create and Attach.
  4. Select from the drop-down list if All of the following conditions or Any of the following conditions must be met to access the folder.

Add special access permissions

Special access permissions allow you to set different availability dates and times for specific users. For example, you could extend the deadline for users who require remedial help or who are submitting work beyond the original scope of the assignment. You can also add special access after a folder’s end date has past for users who have a legitimate excuse for missing the deadline or for users you want to submit additional material, such as planning notes or a bibliography.

  1. On the Dropbox Folders page, click Edit from the context menu of the folder you want to add special access permissions.
  2. In the Restrictions tab, select one of the following:
    • Allow users with special access to submt assignments outside of the normal availability dates for this folder.
    • Only allow users with special access to see this folder.
  3. Click Add Users to Special Access.
  4. On the Special Access page, select the Date Availability you want special access users to have.
  5. Use the View By option and Search For field to locate the users you want to give special access to.
  6. Select the check box beside each appropriate user’s name.
  7. Click Save.

Once you have added special access permissions for users they are listed in the Special Access section. You can edit or delete users’ special access by clicking the   Edit or Remove special access icons beside their names.

Reorder dropbox folders and categories

  1. On the Dropbox Folders page, click Reorder from the More Actions button.
  2. Select the new position for a folder or category using the Sort Order drop-down list beside its name. The positions of other folders or categories adjust accordingly.
  3. Click Save.

Delete a dropbox folder

  1. On the Dropbox Folders page, click Delete from the More Actions button.
  2. Select the folders you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete Selected.

Delete a dropbox category

On the Dropbox Folders page, click the Delete icon beside the name of the category you want to delete.

Note  Folders contained in the category are moved to the No Category area.

Associate a dropbox folder with a learning objective

Use the Objectives tab to associate a dropbox folder with a learning objective. By associating a dropbox folder with a learning objective, you can tie the assignment to a competency you want your users to master. This association can be a basic association or an association with a rubric-based assessment.

You can also evaluate the assignment using a rubric.

Associate a folder with learning objectives

  1. On the Dropbox Folders page, click Edit from the context menu of the folder you want to associate with learning objectives.
  2. In the Objectives tab, click Associate Learning Objectives.
  3. Browse or search  for the learning objective you want to associate with the folder.
  4. Select the learning objectives you want, then click Add Selected.

Add an assessment to a learning objective associated with a folder

  1. On the Dropbox Folders page, click Edit from the context menu of the folder that contains the learning objective you want to associate with an assessment.
  2. In the Objectives tab, click Add Assessment from the context menu of the learning objective you want to evaluate.
  3. Click Select Rubric, or click Create Rubric in New Window. See Creating a Rubric for information on creating effective rubrics, and see Evaluating activities in a competency to learn more about associating activities with learning objectives.
  4. Select a rubric from the list of rubrics, or Search for a specific one, then click Save.
  5. Select a Criteria from the drop-down list.
  6. If you want to make the activity required, select The activity is required to complete learning objective, then select a level for the rubric from the Threshold drop-down list.
  7. Click Save.

Edit assessments and learning objectives associated with folders

If you have permissions to edit a folder's associated learning objectives and assessments, click Edit Learning Objective or Edit Assessment from the context menu of the learning objective or assessment you want to modify.
