Communication Models

Communication allows people to share their thoughts and beliefs among many other things. Using the proper channels are critical to convey the information we want other people to understand. Have you ever tried to explain a situation in a letter but felt that if you were talking to the person directly that you could explain it better? The letter would be a poor choice for explaining in this situation. Letters do not have the capability for recognizing auditory tones or visual cues.

Communication models help people decide which channel to use to communicate with other people. Two types of models commonly used are the Rich/Lean Model and the SMCR Model. Both intend to teach when to use a form of communication over another. Examples are given to show the best choice of channel in a given situation in each model

A popular form of communication reaches millions of people is through the use of the newspaper. With the advent of the internet, newspapers can reach anyone globally, causing all borders to disappear. Follow this Newspaper Link to see what is happening around the world.
