Sarah Meredith, mezzo-soprano, has performed as soloist and recitalist throughout the Midwestern United States, and eastern and western Europe. She holds B.S. and B.M.E. degrees from Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, M.M. from Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, 2 year diploma from the Hochschule fur Musik, Hamburg, Germany, and D.M.A. from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa. She is currently Associate Professor of Communication and the Arts at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. She was the recipient of the International Rotary Teaching Grant for University Teachers, being hosted by Rotary District 2240, Slovakia-Czech Republic, teaching at the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, and the Catholic Conservatory of Music in Bratislava, Slovakia, for the 2001-2002 academic year. In 1989 Ms. Meredith was the recipient of the Collaborative Fulbright stipend to Germany and also taught as a guest professor at the University of Kassel, Kassel, Germany. She has organized student groups and musicians and performed musical theater and light American opera in the Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, Rumania since 1993. Ms. Meredith has also served as an active international adjudicator throughout the Midwest, USA, as well as at the Dvorak International Voice Competition, Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, Schneider-Trnavsky International Voice Competition, Trnava, Slovakia, Central European Festival, and the Regional Metropolitan Auditions. She is the founder and director of the semi-finals for the first Czech/Slovak International Voice Competition to be held in the United States. Ms. Meredith has made appearances with the Green Bay Symphony, the well-known chamber ensemble, Czech Nonet(Prague), Madison Chamber Orchestra, Jackson Symphony Orchestra, OshKosh Symphony as well as recitals on Wisconsin Public Radio, the Chazen Museum Series. In November, 2002, she was invited as the first American artist to perform at the 21st Festival of Contemporary Music in Bratislava, Slovakia, as well as at the Autumn Festival in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia.
July, 2006, and 2007, Ms. Meredith was invited to teach at the well-known Bel Canto Institute/New York City in Florence, Italy. She recently received notice that she was selected to be on the Fulbright Senior Specialist Roster until 2013. Ms. Meredith also was the recent recipient of the Bronze Award from the Del Bianco Foundation, Florence, Italy, recognizing her international work with singers and music faculty across the world. Upcoming activities include a lecture-recital at CASA GUIDI MUSEUM, Florence, Italy, (November, 2008), guest adjudicator, Dvorak International Voice Competition, Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic, (November, 2009), Messiah soloist, Weidner Center, December, 2008, and Public Radio Recital, Chazen Sunday Series, February, 2009, Madison, Wisconsin.
