Professor O'Grady has primary responsibility for the Literature and Styles in Music sequence which combines aspects of traditional music history, theory, form and analysis, and ear-training and sight-singing. In addition he teaches courses in world music and popular music. Dr. O’Grady has published articles and reviews in Musical Quarterly, American Music, Ethnomusicology, Perspectives of New Music, The Journal of Aesthetic Education, Grove’s Dictionary of Music and elsewhere. He has written a book on the Beatles and has contributed chapters to various collections. As a composer of primarily works for winds and choral ensembles, his compositions, some of which have been published by Grand Mesa Music Publishers and PEL Music Publications, have been performed by high school, municipal and university ensembles.
