Dr. David Severtson coordinates the piano program at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. He teaches studio piano lessons, keyboard musicianship, first-year ear training and Survey of Western Art Music. Prior to teaching at UWGB, he taught as a full-time studio instructor at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa and as an adjunct studio instructor at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dr. Severtson maintains an active performing career as a soloist and collaborative artist, including performances on faculty and guest artist recitals at Luther College, St. Olaf College and Bemidji State University. He also has appeared in concert series in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio, Washington and Wisconsin. Dr. Severtson currently serves as accompanist for the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra Chorus, and he recently appeared in recital with cellist Wendy Warner in the symphony’s “Up Close and Personal” series. His piano teachers have included Alexander Braginsky, Eugene and Elizabeth Pridonoff, John Strauss, Jessica Paul and Steve Perry. 

Dr. Severtson’s research interests include the music of Robert Schumann, which resulted in the publication of an article in the Music Research Forum in 2002, as well as French music and culture of the 19th and 20th centuries. He is a member of the Music Teacher’s National Association, Wisconsin Music Teacher’s Association, Northeast Wisconsin Piano Teacher’s Forum, Phi Beta Kappa, Pi Kappa Lambda and Sigma Tau Delta. Dr. Severtson has also taught and performed at the New England Music Camp, Dorian Music Camp and Crane Youth Music Camp.
