Eric Hansen is the clarinet instructor and an Associate Professor of Music at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay. A native of Wyoming, he is a dedicated teacher and an active performer of solo, chamber, and large ensemble music. He is co-author of the clarinet method book, Extreme Clarinet (published by Potenza Music), which focuses on the development of advanced technical skills as well as contemporary extended techniques including multiple articulation, circular breathing, and extreme upper-register tone control. His former clarinet teachers include Scott Wright, Robert Spring, Alan LaFave, and Marianne Bibbey. He teaches clarinet at the UW-Green Bay Summer Music Camps, and he has taught at the Yellowstone Summer Music Camp and the International Music Camp.

Having performed across the United States and internationally, Hansen's expertise ranges from standard Classical music to advanced Contemporary music utilizing extended techniques for clarinet and also includes Jazz and Klezmer music. Highlights include multiple live performances on Wisconsin Public Radio, featured solos with various ensembles in Wisconsin and with the Yellowstone Jazz Festival Big Band performing music of Artie Shaw, performances at the International Double Reed Society Conference with the Triad reed trio and at the International Clarinet Association Conference with the Belgian Claribel Clarinet Choir, and performances with Gypsy Trip, an acoustic Gypsy Jazz and Klezmer ensemble.

Hansen's interdisciplinary research interests include the history, technology, psychology and sociology involved in the craft behind the music of video games, and he designed a related course for UWGB's Freshmen Seminar program.
