The Weidner Center for the Performing Arts on the UW-Green Bay campus is known as one of the finest performing arts centers in the United States, with a magnificent performance hall, three smaller performance spaces, and state-of-the-art equipment. You'll have the opportunity to work in our modern technology lab and recording studio and take classes in technologically advanced classrooms.

At UW-Green Bay, an NASM accredited school, you have a choice of career paths, including music education, performance, and jazz studies.  You'll work with faculty who practice what they preach: engaged musicians and community leaders who are out there performing, composing, teaching and serving.  The Music program has always had an excellent placement rate for music education majors.

...master musicians

Think the big-name artists only come to big cities?  In recent years, students at UW-Green Bay have had the opportunity to sing for world-famous opera star Simon Estes, take a master class with Rhythm and Brass, work with the choral group Cantus and play with jazz greats Dave Holland and Kenny Werner.

...a creative atmosphere

The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's campus-wide emphasis is on interdisciplinary learning, which means you are encouraged to interact with other campus departments and programs and community groups throughout your career.  So, you may find yourself composing music for poetry written by Humanistic Studies students, or singing for a campus-wide academic excellence symposium.

...performing and gigging

15 ensembles offer many performance options.  Groups such as the Hand Drumming Ensemble, Jazz, Opera Workshop, Choirs, and Pep Bands regularly perform on campus and in the community.  Student-led combos often gig in local clubs and coffeehouses.  UWGB students enter and place in such prestigious competitions as NATS, Metropolitan Opera auditions, Henry Silva Young Artists, NEW Arts Council Scholarships, and the Lakeshore Wind Ensemble Young Artists.

Imagine entering the workforce with a resume full of practical experiences, internships with respected arts organizations, work with respected faculty and guest artists, and an impressive list of performances.  Recent University of Wisconsin-Green Bay graduates are realizing their life dreams: attending respected graduate schools like Peabody Conservatory, Arizona State University and California Institute of the Arts; working for arts organizations like the Northeastern Wisconsin Arts Council and Door Off Broadway Theatre; teaching at high schools, middle and elementary schools; even making their a living performing..
