2003-Present              Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce

Served on the selection committee for the Wisconsin Business Friend of the Environment Award.  These awards are given to Wisconsin companies that demonstrate leadership in Pollution Prevention, Innovative Technology and Environmental Stewardship.

 

2003-Present              Member of the Georgia-Pacific Community Advisory Council

This committee meets regularly with Georgia-Pacific management to discuss and provide advice on topics such as the paper industry, facility operations, environmental performance, safety, emergency preparedness, and Georgia-Pacific’s social commitments to the community.

 

2000-Present              Member of the Cascade Asset Management Business Advisory Board

Cascade Asset Management is a computer recycling firm located in Madison.  I have been a member of the Business Advisory Board, which provides assistance on all aspects of the business operations, since the inception of the business.  Meetings of the Business Advisory Board are held quarterly in Madison.

 

2000-Present              Member of the Wisconsin Public Service SolarWise for Schools Program Selection Committee

This committee meets periodically to select new high schools in the area to participate in the SolarWise for Schools program.  This is a competitive process, with successful high schools being given curricular materials and a photovoltaic installation valued at approximately $20,000.

 

2000-Present              Wisconsin Public Service Solar Olympics Coordinator

Serve as the UWGB coordinator for the Solar Olympics, which is a one-day event sponsored by Wisconsin Public Service and held at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.  The event is the culmination of the SolarWise for Schools program each year and features several events ranging from a solar art contest to a solar car race.  Participants come from approximately fifteen high schools in the area, with the total number of participants exceeding one hundred each year.

Served on the selection committee for the first annual Brown County Business Recycling Awards.

I made a presentation to the 2004 Brown County Teen Leadership group on economics and the environment.   A thank you letter is attached.

 

2000-2002                   Member of the Omnova Community Advisory Panel

The Omnova Community Advisory Panel meets quarterly to discuss issues related to Omnova and their overall impact on the community.  I also served on the Omnova Scholarship Committee in 2000 and 2001, which annually awards a scholarship to a local student interested in pursuing a degree in chemistry or a related field. 

 

2000-2001                   Member of the Fox River Valley Organics Recycling Project (FRVOR)

Participated in this project, which was initiated to evaluate the economic, technical, organizational and regulatory feasibility of centrally processing organic wastes to produce soil amendments.

 

1998-1999                   Member of the Used Oil Filter Recycling Task Force

Served as member of this committee since its formation in 1998.  This task force was legislatively mandated to develop recommendations by December 31, 1999 regarding used oil filter recycling efforts in Wisconsin. 

 

1995-1999                   Industrial Byproducts Technical Advisory Committee

This group was established to develop regulations on the beneficial reuse of industrial byproducts such as paper mill sludge, foundry sand and utility

 

1996-1997                   Wisconsin Paper Council

Participated in several Pollution Prevention Programs offered to local communities by the Wisconsin Paper Council.  The intent of these programs was to demonstrate the steps that the paper industry had taken to minimize environmental impacts from facility operations, which are also highlighted in an annual report.
