RESEARCH SPECIALIZATION:
My research is centered on plant and forest pathology. My ongoing research
includes electron microscopic investigations on the pathways of systemic chemitherapeutants
in wood species and forest trees in control of mycoplasma diseases of coconut (lethal
yellows); oak (yellow leaf); eucalyptus (yellow leaf); sandal wood (spike disease);
pear (pear decline); and citrus species (citrus de cline). Each species is an independent
study as the internal conducting patterns vary greatly among species. This is very
challenging research project in the field of "mycoplasma control". The
following are addition to his research activities:
- Investigation of leaf-stem disease and root rots of Panax species (Ginseng).
- Electron microscope investigations on seeds of eucalyptus (collected from mycoplasma
infected trees from Australia and India) for possible international spread of the disease
through seeds.
- Production of forest tree seedlings from tissue culture.
- Himalayan walnut and elm breeding against dutch elm disease and butternut and walnut
canker of American species in Wisconsin.
- Host parasite interactions in butternut canker and walnut dieback.
