Quickbeams Flashlight reviews site, great info, lots of lights

Well I suppose this was going to happen sooner or later, but I have gotten more in to "regular" flashlights lately. Since I have, I might as well pass along what I have found. I will forever be looking for a very small, very bright light, be it led or regular. So now I have a good start on a couple of lights and here is what I have found. These light are listed in order of brightness at the center of their beams. All the lights were tested with brand new batteries and the voltages are actual under load.

As far as batteries are concerned I prefer Duracell or Procell. Since I use them for my work I decided to test some of the lithium batteries against each other. I ran them in my Surefire D2 with a P61 lamp. I know this isn't real scientific, but I just wanted to see what would happen before we started ordering them in bulk. Also, not every battery off the line is the same, so these results could vary. The Duracell Ultras ran for 27 min ($16.99 local store). The regular Duracell's ran for 25 min ($5.83 Botach). The Sanyo's ran for 23 min ($3.80 electronet). So the Duracell is a better battery. Using the prices above I calculated the price in cents to run the light for a minute, Ultra is 63 cents, regular Duracell 23 cents and 16 cents for the Sanyo. I would imagine that the price of ultras will come down as they catch on. I guess you have to choose if you want to pay more for a longer run time or get by cheaper and replace the batteries more often. 09-24-01 I just ran my first set of Surefire 123 and they ran just over 30 minutes. I will hopefully getting more soon to double check this runtime. There also might be an issue of thermal shutdown with the cheaper batteries. Basically these batteries get hot under normal use and will disconnect themselves if they get to to hot. Supposedly the Duracells will run longer and hotter before this happens, I didn't run in to this problem during my tests however. 09-01-03 I am running pretty much Sure Fire 123 exclusivly since Surefire (right from them) is selling 12 of them for $15. It is hard to beat that price and preformance.

CP@7M is peak candle power at 7 meters or about 20 feet. Now this is just for reference. Remember it is the peak output, a light with a larger beam will have much higher lumen output. You can see this with the D2 using a Kt1 turbo head, the P60 lamp and the N1 lamp use the same amount of power and both prduce 65 lumen, yet the KT1 comes in at 30 while the P60 is 12. This is due to all the light being focused in a smaller area.
Focus is how wide the beam of light is after shining 20 feet. For lighting at a distance, a small number would be better, while a big number would be better for closer viewing.
