Foundation Foster Parent Training for all County and Tribal licensed Foster Parents*

Foundation Foster Parent Training
This training is designed to develop your knowledge and skills as a foster parent. It is a companion piece to the Pre-Placement Training and expands on the concepts introduced there. It is expected that foster parents have completed Pre-Placement Training before attending Foundation Training.

Foundation Foster Parent training totals 30 hours, split into ten 3-hour sessions. Attending each module listed below meets the required 30 hours. Note, module 4 consists of two sessions. Both parts 4a and 4b are required. Each module is available in various locations. Choose the option that works best for you.

Fee: there is no cost for county or tribal licensed foster parents to attend foster parent foundation training sessions. For those licesned by private foster care agencies there is a $50 per session fee.

In order to register for training sessions, please click on the button below to go to the Wisconsin Child Welfare Professional Development System (WCWPDS) website to access PDS Online. Once you reach the WCWPDS website, you will click on the “PDS Online Go” button in order to login and register for pre-placement and foundation training modules and sessions.  Once you reach the PDS Online system, you will be able to search training sessions  by title by typing it in the search box in the upper right corner.  Complete instructions for logging in and registering for training sessions are available on the WCWPDS website via the button below.


Child Care: Child care is not provided by NEW Partnership. Please check with your Foster Care Coordinator to make child care arrangements.

* Privately licensed Foster Parents - Please see your licenser regarding Foundation Foster Parent training.
