Access
PreReq - Access Preservice Web based Module and Safety Preservice Web based Module

Prior to training, please complete the Pre-Training Activity and bring the required documents listed below. You likely have a copy of these documents in your office. If not, use the links to print your own copy.

Pre-Training Activity: Complete or review Access Pre-Service Training (web-based) on Wisconsin Child Welfare Professional Development System website. It is estimated that the training will take less than 20 minutes. You can click “GO” at the bottom of the webpage to access the module directly- skip Step 1. *Note: The Access Pre-Service will link you to the Safety Standards with Appendices. The Standards have not changed, however Appendix 1 and 6 are the old versions. Use the links below to obtain the most recent version if you do not have it.

Advanced Workshop on Termination of Parental Rights

Initial Assessment

Pre-Training Activity: Complete the Initial Assessment Pre-Service training module (web-based) on the Wisconsin Child Welfare Professional Development System website, if you have not done so.

You can access the training with the following link: http://wcwpds.wisc.edu/caseworker-training/pre-service/Default.aspx

Click on the “Pre-Service” link, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the “Go” button. Click on "Initial Assessment" to begin the Pre-service Module. Be sure to turn on your speakers. It is estimated that the training will take 70-90 minutes.

Safety in Child Protective Services
PreReq - Preservice Web based Module

Prior to training, you are required to complete the Safety Pre-Service training module (web-based) on the Wisconsin Child Welfare Professional Development System website.

Click on the “Pre-Service” link, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the “Go” button. Click on "Safety" to begin the Safety Pre-service Module. Be sure to turn on your speakers. There are four sections in the Safety module. It is estimated that the training will take 2-4 hours.

It is essential that you complete Safety Pre-Service prior to the training. The trainers will assume you have a solid understanding of these safety concepts, and Safety in Child Protective Services training will build upon this knowledge. Having you complete the “basics” through web-based training allow them to focus on more complex concepts and application in training. You do not need to reply back that you have completed it.

Trauma Informed Practice

Prior to the training, please complete the following pre-training activity.

Pre-Training Activity:Complete the Trauma Informed Practice Web-based module on WCWPDS or the Behavioral Health Training Partnership website. You can access the training with the following links:

The trainer will expect that all the participants have completed this training as it wrapped throughout the training. In general, you can expect this to take about 2 hours, depending on your individual pace and time spent on the activities.

When Domestic Violence and Child Maltreatment Intersect

Prior to training, please complete the Pre-Training Activity (Case Card) and bring it with you. You can use the electronic document or print a blank copy and handwrite your notes.

Select a case that you have worked on where domestic violence was a primary concern (if necessary, consult with a colleague to identify a case). Get familiar with the circumstances, the people involved, the nature of the violence, how the case was referred to CPS, and the outcome. Use the case card to construct a brief outline of the case and bring it with you to the training. You’ll work with this scenario at different points in the training.
