In order to register for training sessions, please click on the button below to go to the Wisconsin Child Welfare Professional Development System (WCWPDS) website to access PDS Online. Once you reach the WCWPDS website, you will click on the “PDS Online Go” button in order to login and register for pre-service, foundation and special skills/topics training sessions.  Once you reach the PDS Online system, you will be able to search training sessions  by title or locator number.  A locator number is identified below for each training session to streamline your search process on PDS Online.  Complete instructions for logging in and registering for training sessions are available on the WCWPDS website via the button below.

DESCRIPTION : In this two-day training, participants will actively explore the developmental consequences of child abuse and neglect in children from birth to adolescence and establish a framework for the early recognition of developmental problems, enhancing the professional's ability to formulate appropriate family service plans.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  • recognize the normal milestones of development

  • identify indicators of development delay

  • recognize the negative impact of maltreatment on normal development

  • recognize when children's behavior problems may be symptoms of developmental delay or emotional disturbance

  • help parents and foster parents set realistic expectations for children who have developmental delays as a result of maltreatment
