Professional Experience: Jan returned to UW-Green Bay joining the Academic Staff in 2003. He is active in efforts to recruit nursing students, including developing relationships with Associate Degree Programs, associations and major employers for the BSN-LINC Program. Jan also worked from 2003-2006 with the Northeastern Wisconsin Partnership for Children & Families at UW-Green Bay that provides professional training to Child Welfare Social Workers.
For 26 years prior to returning to UW-Green Bay, Jan served as the Executive Director of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northeastern Wisconsin. He was responsible for personnel, fund-raising, financial operations, marketing and volunteer recruitment, staffing the Board of Directors, strategic planning, and programming. On a state level, he served as Chairperson of Marketing, Private Sector Fund Development, and Chairman of the Board. Nationally, he served as a Regional Peer Consultant, Trainer, Standards of Practice Review Chairperson, and Resolutions Forum Representative.
Interests: Jan’s professional interests have focused on community involvements with the United Way, Boy Scouts, St. Vincent’s Hospital, Soaring Eagle Community School, UW-Green Bay Ecumenical Center, coaching youth soccer and his church. His personal interests have involved his family, golf, sailing, theatre, cross country skiing and biking.
Education: Jan graduated from UW-Green Bay in 1977 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, Social Work and Humanistic Studies. He has attended numerous training programs in non-profit management, marketing, volunteer recruitment, fund development, strategic planning and program development.
