How do I use the UW-Green Bay library system on-line?
Your tuition supports your use of the Cofrin Library and the UW-Green Bay library system. This is a fantastic resource for you. The library subscribes to extensive on-line library databases with many full text articles. You can also request to borrow materials the library does not own via the ILLiad interlibrary loan system, generally at no charge.
To Get Started:
- Go to the library website at www.uwgb.edu/library.
- To search for articles, make sure you are on the "articles" tab. To search our catalog for books, click on the "books" tab.
- Click on either "databases A-Z" if you know the name of the database or else "databases by subject".
- You will be routed to the screen when you log into the campus network using your campus user name and password, the same on you use for your campus e-mail account. If you don't know it/have forgotten it, contact the CIT Help Desk at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 920-465-2309 from 8-4:30 Monday through Friday. Tell the person answering that you are an off-campus nursing student and you need help with getting your password for using the library. If a student worker answers the phone, the worker might need to get a staff person to help you with this.
Once you have logged into the campus network and are authenticated as an authorized user, you can navigate to a database and begin searching. Going to the "databases by subject—nursing and medicine" page shows you a list of suggested databases you can access. Going to the advanced search screen in a database will give you the most options for precision searching, such as limiting to peer-reviewed articles or English language articles. CINAHL and Medline are two of the most important databases for the field of nursing.
For more information on services available and using library resources effectively, go to http://libguides.uwgb.edu/nursing for a detailed guide for nursing students on library resources, including a video demonstration of using the CINAHL nursing database.
For additional assistance contact the Library Research Desk at 920-465-2303 or email@example.com. They can help you locate materials needed for your courses and can help guide you with literature searches.
