Where is the Institute held?

The Institute classes are held in the KI Convention Center in downtown Green Bay. The KI Convention Center is conveniently connected to the Hotel Sierra, the host hotel for lodging. For more information on theKI Convention Center, go to: www.regencygb.com. Effective May 1st the Regency Suites will have a name change to the Hotel Sierra. Please go to their Website at: www.hotel-sierra.com

The Hotel Sierra is a smoke-free facility.

About the Hotel

Located in the heart of downtown Green Bay, the Hotel Sierra features 223 luxurious two-room suites all with a private bedroom area (either one king or two double beds) and separate living area complete with a kitchen, wet bar, microwave, and refrigerator. All overnight guests of the hotel receive a full complimentary breakfast each morning. All rooms also contain a sofa bed.

Lodging costs

Check out time is 11 a.m.

As a courtesy to our municipalities, we offer two person occupancy rooms upon request. This costs the municipalities half the cost of a single room & enables many students to attend who would not ordinarily be able to. No refunds will be given to people with double occupancy rooms who cancel their lodging after June 20, 2008. When you cancel your room, it becomes a single occupancy unit, affecting your roommate’s cost. In the past, UW-Green Bay has absorbed these costs, but we can no longer do so.

The Hotel Sierra Will Not Accept Any Phone or Mail-in Registrations.

Roommates

Having a roommate is a great way to make friends and meet new people. When you sign up for your room and if you know who you would like as a roommate, put their name on your registration form under “Roommate Request.” If you would like us to assign you a roommate, just check the “Assign one for me” box and we’ll match you up with someone.

Enter your lodging request on the registration form. Assignments will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis. You will be notified of your roommate prior to your arrival.

In the event your chosen roommate does not register for the Institute or agree to room with you, UW-Green Bay reserves the right to place you with a new roommate of our choice or charge you for a single occupancy room.

*We will not assign roommates to anyone who is not staying the full week.

Can I Bring My Family?

You may invite your family to spend the week with you. The cost is $85 per night for two adults. For each additional adult, there is a $20 charge per night. Children under eighteen (18) stay free when accompanied by an adult. Due to fire safety policies, no more than six (6) people will be allowed to occupy a suite overnight.

There are scholarships available to attend

The Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association (WMCA) and the Municipal Treasurers Association of Wisconsin (MTAW) provides $50 scholarships to members of their respective associations who are students in the first year Institute classes. There are no forms to fill out. UW-Green Bay sends the students’ names to WMCA or MTAW upon completion of the Institute. Checks are issued by the respective organization to the municipality.

In addition, WMCA and MTAW awards scholarships from their association and affiliated professional organizations. Scholarships range from $100 to all expenses paid. To be considered for a scholarship, an applicant must be a member of the organization for one or more years. The student must also be signed up for and attend the Institute associated with that particular organization. For example, WMCA will only give scholarships to clerks who are taking the clerk track.

WMCA offers scholarships for the Municipal Clerks Institute, and MTAW offers scholarships for the Municipal Treasurers Institute.

A scholarship application for WMCA can be found on their website at: http://www.wisclerks.org MTAW’s scholarship form can be found on their website at: http://www.mtaw.org In the January newsletter of your respective organization are the scholarship forms. If you would like more information on WMCA’s scholarships contact JoAnn Cram at (608) 374-7426 or MTAW contact Terry Estness at (414) 453-1442

Please watch for scholarship deadlines. Many students do not receive scholarships because their application was received after the deadline.
