Course Descriptions

Requirements for the Certificate: 8-14 Credits

Students must complete at least the last four classes in the advanced level in order to earn the certificate.

 

Sequence of Courses:

This program is designed for students with little or no previous knowledge of Spanish. Students entering this program who have acquired some basic knowledge of Spanish elsewhere should take the SIP Certificate Program placement test to determine appropriate level. Students need to enroll and complete at least the last four courses of the SIP Certificate program (a minimum of 8 credits) and finish the certificate.

This certificate is not intended for students who are already fluent in the language or who have a solid knowledge of Spanish. Those students will be directed to the regular major or minor in Spanish.

Assessment:

Periodic learning assessment takes the form of in-course assignments, comprehensive tests and an oral final exam for each and every course. In addition, a final portfolio evaluation is integrated in the advanced level course.
