Graduates of Public Administration and Environmental Policy and Planning often find exciting careers working for local, state or federal agencies; nonprofit organizations; companies and consulting firms. Our graduates also pursue advanced study in public administration or environmental studies or law.
Attend the PEA Student Engagement Forum to learn more about the applied work of our students and alumni.
Here's an example of a recent graduate:
Michelle Eis, a 2006 graduate of UWGB received the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Gold Medal Award for work on the Blue Skyways Collaborative to reduce air pollution in the Heartland. After graduating, Michelle went to work as an energy coordinator with the EPA’s Region 7 office in Kansas City, Kan. Blue Skyways is a partnership of non-profit and environmental groups, private industries and international, federal, state and local governments working to achieve voluntary reductions in air pollution from the Canadian border to the Mexican border. It includes Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas and New Mexico. Michelle’s work with the collaborative included a focus on reducing air pollution through energy related projects such as energy efficiency and the use and production of renewable energy and alternative fuels. She has worked with partners from the public and private sectors to find cost-effective solutions to reducing air pollution.
While in the program, Michelle served on the Public and Environmental Affairs Council, and was instrumental in persuading the campus community to adopt a policy of purchasing renewable energy for the campus
