Student Opportunities

Internships

An internship is an opportunity for a student to work in an organization and acquire "hands-on" training. At the most recent internship forum, student interns were asked, “If you could give any advice to your fellow majors who might be considering internships, what would it be?” Their consensus was, “Start early, so you might have the chance to do more than one internship! Do an internship your junior year. The internships brought together all the things we learned in the classroom and made our college education come alive!”

Intern of the Month

The Department of Public and Environmental Affairs created an intern of the month program in Fall 2010. The purpose of the program is for intern supervisors to nominate an exceptional intern and to spotlight the great work that our students are conducting.

Scholarships

Public and Environmental Affairs now offers two scholarships for students.

Testimonials

Hear from students and alumni about their experiences.

Honors in the Major

Honors in the major is different from all-university honors and is designed to recognize student excellence within interdisciplinary and disciplinary academic programs.

Teaching Assistantships

Teaching assistants help to make classroom learning experiences more meaningful, while learning valuable skills and gaining a new perspective on education in the process.

Certificate Program

The certificate in Environmental Sustainability and Business consists of a supporting course structure that is complementary to the campus' existing general education requirements. It is the internship/co-op experience that ensures our EMBI certificate is not just "one more certificate" that carries little meaning to employers.

Consider a Double Major

Many students find that with careful planning, they can double major in Public Administration and Political Science or Environmental Policy and Planning. Often, a double major makes students more competitive in seeking jobs or in pursuing graduate programs. We encourage you to see the PEA advisor about the feasibility of a double major.

Consider Pre-Law

Instead of designating a specific pre-law major or minor, UW-Green Bay encourages students to tailor their own pre-professional courses of study. A major in Public & Environmental Affairs is particularly suited for Pre-Law.
