Phi Eta Sigma is a national honorary society whose mission is to encourage and reward academic excellence among first-year students in institutions of higher education.  Phi Eta Sigma places high emphasis on participation in community activities.

Phi Eta Sigma Officer Position Descriptions:
Co-President
(Elected Position, two-year term; one position open)
The Co-Presidents work together to coordinate and run officer and chapter meetings, assist in scheduling events and help communicate with Phi Eta Sigma members; delegate and oversee duties and tasks with officers and members; work closely with the chapter administrative assistant and adviser.


Secretary (Elected Position; one year term)
The Secretary maintains contact with chapter members through email and Facebook; is partially responsible for the PES email account; is the record keeper for the ‘point system’; approves members requesting to join Facebook; attends chapter meetings; is responsible to attend officer meetings and take minutes, distributing to the officers, admin assistant and chapter adviser.

Treasurer (Elected Position; one year term)
The Treasurer handles the organization’s money through accurate financial record keeping, collects and deposits income, records expenses and works with OFO to balance the account (deposits, expenses, refunds); attends officer and chapter meetings; works with the chapter administrative assistant; prepares a monthly financial report and presents to officers, admin assistant and chapter advisor; required to attend SUFAC budget training meeting and prepare annual SUFAC budget.  It is recommended that this individual has knowledge in accounting.


Events Coordinator (Elected Position; one year term)
The Events Coordinator is responsible for setting up and coordinating chapter events/activities, contacting members and securing volunteers for the activities; provides documentation of attendance and takes photos at chapter functions (if not available to attend an event, must delegate a member to document attendance and take photographs); attends officer and chapter meetings.


Media Coordinator
(Elected Position; one year term)
The Media Coordinator’s duties include designing and editing the bi-weekly member newsletter sent via email by the administrative assistant; preparing the bi-weekly power point presentation for chapter meetings & uploading it to Facebook; keeping members informed of upcoming meetings and events.  This individual will work closely with the co-presidents and events coordinator, chapter administrative assistant and adviser.

Senior Adviser (Appointed Position; one year term)
The Senior Adviser is a former PES officer who is well-versed, experienced and knowledgeable in all aspects of the chapter; is available to participate in discussion of event planning and other tasks when asked for input and assistance by chapter officers; encouraged to attend officer meetings.


Regional Conference Coordinator
(Appointed Position)
(Two positions; 2 year term; appointed by Executive Board, year prior to conference) 
The Regional Conference Coordinators are responsible for all aspects of planning a Midwest Area Regional conference: secure venue, date, agenda [topics/speakers], meals, activities, costs; invitations to potential participates; coordinates advertising with the administrative assistant, adviser and national office; coordinates and reports regularly to the chapter officers, adviser, administrative assistant and the national office to ensure a successful event. It is suggestive that the regional coordinators attend the national convention.  UWGB anticipates sponsoring a Midwest Area Regional Conference in fall 2017.

 

Upcoming Events

March 21-23, 2016:  Voting begins for new officers.  Results will be announced March 25th.

April 14, 2016:  Induction.  E-vites will be sent to new members after Spring Break.

April 22, 2016:  Relay for Life.  We will be walking as a team.
