Questions and Answers
Q: What's the difference between an internship with Phlash TV
and being an Org Member?
A: Interns make a commitment to a certain number of hours a week
(usually 10-15) and to stay with Phlash TV for one semester or longer. An
Org Member has no specific commitment to the group, but typically spends
2-6 hours a week on Phlash TV activities. Many Org Members decide in future
semesters to get further involved with internship positions.
Q: Does my major allow me to get internship credits?
A: It depends on several factors. You will need to talk to
your faculty advisor about whether or not they will allow you to earn internship
credits. You are still welcome to fill an "internship" position even if you can't
get academic credit for it, provided you agree to fulfill the duties of
the position.
Typical majors/minors of our interns include, but are not limited to:
Communication,
Design Arts, Business, Arts Management, and Communication and the
Arts.
Q: What do I need to do to become an intern?
First you need to decide which position(s) you are interested in.
You can go to
this page to look at job descriptions. Next, you should send
an email to
phlashtv@uwgb.edu with any questions, or to indicate that you are
interested in an internship position. From there, you will be
contacted to set up an interview / complete the application.
Q: If I'm an Org Member, what is it that I do?
Pretty much anything you want! In
a nutshell, almost any job that is available for internship credit can
be done as an Org Member as well.
You will have the option of signing up for a particular show's
production crew, or for a particular role, such as, talent (host, field
reporter, actor), writer, set design, makeup artist, promotions team
member etc.
