Education: B.A. in Government/International Relations, 1986, California State University.  M.A. in Political Science, 1988, and Ph.D. in Political Science, 1993, George Washington University. 

Fields of Interest:  Comparative politics emphasizing regime change and political outcomes, theories of revolution, and the consolidation and the quality of democracy in Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa.
