The ACADEMIC WRITING AND RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
is a two-week residential experience for high school aged participants who want to go to college and want to be prepared
to handle the writing that a college education will require. AWARE is for students who enjoy writing but who want to
improve their skills. Participants will leave ready to write better papers in high school and better prepared for college
level writing.
Participants will get the real feel of college life as they; live in the college dorms, are taught in college classrooms
by exceptional instructors, and are guided through the research process by a college reference and instructional librarian.
Each participant will leave with a college level research project and paper portfolio.
Participants will spend their days in the Cofrin Library and the Writing Center at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay
under the guidance of a research and instruction librarian. They will learn to use both library and internet reseach skills
to find the best research for a topic. In the college writing lab, they will learn and work through the writing process
from brainstorming ideas through drafts and finishing with a research paper of college quality.
Busing service for eligible students is available from various locations throughout Wisconsin.
Scholarships are available to those who qualify through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Precollege
