THE YOUNG WRITERS’ WORKSHOP
is a two-week residential workshop in which students will develop written communication skills, critical reading skills
and creative cognitive development. Daily journaling, interviews of faculty and fact-finding adventures will enrich
participants’ social skills and their self-expression of values, ideas and dreams for the future.
This workshop is for the creative student: Students who love to write and who want to learn more about writing in the
summer, who love to draw or illustrate, who want to be involved in producing their own magazine. In addition to private
writing, students will also write short pieces and share them with other members of the group. Students will leave the
workshop with a book containing work that each member has contributed. Students will utilize the UW-Green Bay campus as
well as field trips to other areas for inspiration in their writing. This program is available for students entering 6th,
7th, or 8th grade.
Busing service for eligible students is available from various locations throughout Wisconsin.
Scholarships are available to those who qualify through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Precollege
Scholarship Program.
